Portsmouth Guildhall set to renovate and improve access

JHA have been commissioned by Portsmouth’s historic Guildhall to improve access, interpret the local music heritage and renovate their Art Deco Zodiac Lounge.

The Guildhall is a Victorian building, which was bombed in WWII and rebuilt with Art Deco interiors. Its Deco centrepiece is the Zodiac Room, a fabulous Art Deco space featuring the 12 signs of the zodiac on its walls in a glass mural.

The building will have greater interpretation of its heritage throughout its circulation spaces and will introduce a space celebrating  live music and the lively post war music scene in Portsmouth. It will have improved access, including a new entrance at ground level.
